The night of October 13th was a very special evening for the seniors of Hughson High’s football and cheer team. Senior Night is a very special event long awaited by students who participate in any kind of sport here at Hughson. On this night, seniors line the field under the bright stadium light to be honored and acknowledged before their last season is over. This is a very sentimental moment for all the seniors walking the field.
Allison Anderson was one of many varsity cheerleaders honored on senior night. Allison had been cheering for 3 years at Hughson High and she expressed that “It’s sentimental, it’s really sentimental” when talking about this being her last year.
One of Anderson’s favorite thing about cheer that she is sure to miss greatly is “The after half time feeling when the crowd is going wild.”
Alex Villarreal is a senior on the Huskies Varsity football team. Alex has participated in football for 12 years and said it feels “sad and weird, just knowing that I won’t be able to play out under any more Friday night lights after this.”
During his time on Varsity, Alex always was able to play in the State Championships with his team and win for the first time since 1997. Villarreal said one of his favorite memories was “Winning state in front of the hometown and it was just a mud bowl so it was one of my favorite moments.”
Senior Night is a very sentimental moment for all athletes. Being that it’s the end of their very last season at Hughson High it brings out a lot of emotions. Knowing that this is their last time playing with their team that has become a family and then moving on to a bigger chapter in their lives. Senior Night is a time to honor and acknowledge these seniors for all the time that they have given to their sport and team.
