Senior night is one of the most memorable nights for a lot of the graduating seniors. Seniors that do sports have a night where they walk out and get introduced by their lower class teammates. Memories they have experienced, how many years they’ve played volleyball and what they would like to do after high school is all a part of the speech that is given.
Throughout their years of playing volleyball here at HHS consists of a lot of ups and downs, highs and lows but it’s all sentimental in the end. Madi Duron shared some of her memories here at hughson high, “ I’ve been playing on a team since 6th grade but I remember going to clinics when I was in 4th and 5th here at HHS.” She also loves the highs, having bonds and being able to connect with the team along with lows and the grind, staying busy and working out and trying to work towards a goal.
Duron also said, “It’s bittersweet to be leaving since I’ve been playing for a long time. And at least I had a good team to end on with ,and I was really emotional before senior night but like at the end of it it didn’t hit me as hard because I’m going to be playing basketball in the same gym.”
Natalie Wohler (Tiny) has had many memories from playing volleyball at HHS over the years. Wolher said ¨ All of team bonding and becoming closer to two new freshmen, then hanging out with my team.¨
In the end, every student athlete graduates and has to make a decision of their own to either go to college and play their sport or let go of their sport to just focus on their career. This question taunts many graduating seniors. Duron says “ If i can i would love to play at MJC, I’m in contact with their volleyball and basketball coach so if i can play i would love to do that at MJC.¨
