Every year Hughson High’s Cross Country team hosts a significantly big event called Supercross. Supercross is an event where other schools bring their cross country team to HHS and compete in a cross country race. The course is 2.3 miles and goes through the track, the soccer fields through Fontana Park, in the arboretum, and the baseball and softball fields. There were forty five schools that attended this event and each one of them got their very own poster made by HHS cross country athletes.
Since there were so many schools that attended it went from 8:30am to 12:10pm. The snack bar was up and running so runners and spectators had food to last them the rest of the meet. It was quite chilly most of the day but while the last race was going it got pretty warm.
To start off there was an open race where anywhere who wanted to run no matter what age could run the race. Running this race was many little kids and parents. Being able to have anyone run just for fun was a great way to kick off the meet day.
Because the meet was a Invitational one it was considered a fun one. By the soccer fields there was a mud pit for runners to run through twice. Many runners fell, lost their shoes, and one of HHS varsity boy lost their glasses. Needless to say the mud pit made the race very messy and exciting. After each race the runners would run to the hose and clean off all the mud that they were covered in.
Overall the meet was a very good turn out since there was so many schools that came down to participate in the race.
