A few months ago in March, students from HHS got the opportunity to choose who they wanted to represent for their Associated Student Body Class. Abigail Winfrey, a junior at Hughson High School, got voted in as the Junior Class Vice President.
When talking about what inspired Winfrey to be a part of Hughson’s student leadership, she stated, “I wanted to be a part of Hughson’s leadership because I wanted to be a part of the school, make a difference, and make new friends.”
When discussing activities and projects that Winfrey is currently working on to represent her class, she stated, “we are currently making dress up names for football games and themes for different events going on at the school.”
Regarding things that are going to happen this year, Winfrey said, “future activities that we have planned for the school are formal, prom, and graduation.”
When talking about pros and cons to being the Junior Class Vice President, Winfrey stated, “pros of being Junior Class Vice President is I know what is going on at the school and what the future holds for our school year. Cons is that it can be stressful and a lot on my plate.”
All in all leadership classes in high school show you a variety of different life skills like being a team player and having independence. It also gives you valuable communication and leadership skills. Don’t skip on choosing leadership as one of your electives next year!
