With October at an end, there have been a handful of albums, singles, and LP’s that have dropped during the spookiest time of the year. And this article will tell you what has dropped and if they’re a good listen.
On October 6th, Drake dropped his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs, which was highly anticipated by the fans. For All the Dogs has some bangers like First Person Shooter and 8am in Charlotte, and for a long album, is nice. But the album overall is pretty bloated. But in my opinion, you should listen to For All the Dogs.
On October 20th, Sampha dropped his second studio album, Lahai. And to cut it short, Lahai is really good. The album’s name came from his grandfather’s name. Sampha just has a certain heavenly effect on Lahai. Anthony Fantano says this perfectly saying, “Sampha can take as long as he wants with his albums.” Showing how Sampha can really make masterpieces if you give him time.
On October 13th, Westside Gunn dropped his last studio album, And Then You Pray For Me. And to close his discography, it’s a nice ending to it. Westside Gunn’s versatility and different sounds really are refreshing. Although not his best album, it still is a good listen.
On October 6th, Earl Sweatshirt & The Alchemist dropped the album, Voir Dire. And how Sputnikmusic phrases it fittingly, “Listening to this album is like talking to a friend.” Even if Voir Dire is only 26 minutes all together, the way Earl and Alchemist use them is fascinating. The album is an amazing listen being short and sweet.
On October 13th, Offset dropped his second studio album called Set It Off. And overall, it’s pretty good. Offset stays steady on all tracks and has some amazing features. Set It Off is a good first listen and shows Offset reinventing himself.
On October 13th, Ken Carson dropped the album, A Great Chaos. And for me and many others, it is an upgrade from all his last albums. A Great Chaos is just Ken Carson doing what he always does, but I feel his overall production is better since last time we saw him. But overall, you should listen to A Great Chaos if you like Ken’s genre.
