There are many different versions of Thanksgiving meals, some have turkey and some don’t, others instead of turkey, use tamales. Thanksgiving is also a time of thanks and being able to spend time with those you love and cherish. I interviewed five Hughson High students and staff on what their Thanksgiving meals were and one thing that they are grateful for so far this year.
Jasmin Richardson is a senior, she says that her Thanksgiving meal consists of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cheesecake, and some cranberry sauce. One of the things she is grateful for this year is her family.
Angeles O’Donnell is a senior, he says that his Thanksgiving meal is Stuffing. One of the things that he is grateful for this year is graduating and being able to move on with his life.
Madison Barretta is a senior, she says that her Thanksgiving meal is her homemade bread, ham, homemade stuffing, homemade muffins and green bean casserole. One of the things that she is grateful for this year is the new relationships that she has made and the old friendships that have continued to grow as well as her German Shepherd.
Levi Walker is a senior, his Thanksgiving meal is stuffed turkey with bread stuffing, homemade sesame seed bread, and green bean casserole. One of the things that he is grateful for is his amazing girlfriend Madison Barretta.
Kayte Maki is a teacher, she teaches the Hughson High beginning, concert, and symphonic band. She says that her Thanksgiving meal is her moms assyrian rice, dolma, which is stuffed grape leaves that her mom picks herself, and chicken lilly which is a chicken recipe that is named after her grandma, Lilly, which is a mexican-assyrian hybrid meal. One of the things she is grateful for is her family.
Thanksgiving is a time of eating till your heart’s content and celebrating with those you love and cherish. What do you eat for your Thanksgiving meal? Is it more traditional or is it your own mix? Thanksgiving is a time to say thank you to those who you are thankful for. Give thanks this Thanksgiving.
