Since week 6 the Hughson Huskies have only lost 2 games to 2 good teams, one of them being Hilmar and the other was the rival game against Escalon. The Huskies also placed 3rd in the Trans-Valley League with a 3-2 record. The Huskies blew out 2 of the teams they beat with a score of 41-0 against Livingston, 55-26 against Ripon, and 28-14 against Modesto Christian.
During the last game of the regular season, Junior quarterback Robert McDaniel broke a new record, throwing for 7 touchdown passes in one game. Getting touchdowns and receptions to almost every receiver. This would end the Huskies regular season giving them a bye week due to the win as they would prepare for the playoffs.
The Hughson Huskies got a bye week since they had beaten Ripon, earning the number 3 seed. The Huskies would then have to wait to see if they would play Amador or Colfax. After the bye week, Colfax had beaten Amador as the Huskies and Falcons would play against each other in the next round. With the extra week the Huskies got to prepare, it really showed on Friday night. Defense was doing well all game, shutting down most passes and runs barely allowing Colfax to get many first downs and held them to only 2 touchdowns. The offense also exploded with many deep passes and some big runs, they quickly put the game away with the score being 54-13.
As the Huskies beat the Falcons they will advance to the next round to face their next opponent. The number 4 seed Hughson will go to play the number 1 seed Sutter this upcoming Friday at Sutter.
