The Hughson Boys Basketball team had two scrimmages this last week, playing Tracy and Big Valley Christian. They played the Tracy Bulldogs on the fifteenth, with the final score being 65-60. It was a good experience for the team, as many of the team last year that are now playing on Varsity were playing at the Junior Varsity level. It was an extremely competitive game the whole way through, with both teams being extremely active and physical, it was an amazing way to start the year, showing the team the speed and physicality needed to play at the varsity level competitively.
The day after, the Jv and Varsity team both played Big Valley Christian. The Jv Team ended the scrimmage with a score of 47-29. The Varsity’s scrimmage score resets after every quarter, as Big Valley Cristian requested we don’t keep score. The game was close each quarter and was fought hard by both teams. Even though it was only a scrimmage, each team played as if it were a real game the whole way through and left everything they had on the court.
With how our team is configured this year, and with more valuable athletes coming after the Football Season comes to an end, I’m proud to say I am looking forward to having a successful senior varsity basketball season. The first preseason game is this next Monday for all levels at home, 4:00 for Freshman, 5:30 for Jv, and 7:00 for Varsity. Be sure to try and support our team if possible.
