A few months ago in March, students from HHS got the opportunity to choose who they wanted to represent for their Associated Student Body Class. Hayden Ford, a junior at Hughson High School, got voted in as the ASB Spirit Commissioner
When discussing what inspired Ford to be a part of Hughson’s student leadership, she stated, “I was inspired because I was always told that I was a leader and I’ve always wanted to make like a really big change in the Hughson school.”
Regarding pros and cons about being the ASB Spirit Commissioner, Ford said, “pros is that I get into football games for free and I get to dress up and stuff like that but cons are like sometimes there are communication issues.”
When talking about activities and projects that Ford is currently working on to represent her class, she stated, “we are currently working on winter formal, we have prom coming up and then we are also currently working on a canned food drive.”
When discussing things that are going to happen this year, Ford commented, “later on we have prom we want to do rallies and then there is also graduation that we have to set up for.”
All in all, leadership classes in high school show you a variety of different life skills like being a team player and having independence. It also gives you valuable communication and leadership skills. Don’t skip on choosing leadership as one of your electives next year!
