Due to Christmas coming up, here are some tips and tricks to help make your own Christmas crafts and activities to do with your Family, Friends, and just for fun. If you go to a store you are able to buy a gingerbread house kit, including 4-6 pieces of gingerbread, The icing, Candy and sometimes Chocolate. The gingerbread house kit comes with a base, 4 walls, 2 roof pieces, and an optional Christmas tree or a gingerbread man. You can first put the icing on the edges of the base and then put icing around the edges of the gingerbread walls and stick them on the base and carefully put them together, it is also optional if you want to wait until the icing dries. Now the next step is putting the icing on the top of the 2 taller walls and gently pressing the roof onto the icing. You can also put icing in between the roofs to help them stay together. If your gingerbread kit has a tree or a gingerbread man, you should be able to ice them onto the base and you’re ready to decorate your gingerbread house!
Along with making a gingerbread house, you can also make Homemade Ornaments. You can buy plastic clear ornaments at dollar tree and pour your choice of paint and glitter inside the opening of the ornament and cover the opening and slowly tilt your ornament to get the color everywhere inside the ornament. Then you can put the ornament upside down on a paper plate to pour the excess paint out and clean the opening with a paper towel and put the lid back on when the paint dries. Another ornament is skinny wood cutouts from dollar trees and you’re able to paint, color, put stickers on it, etc. Then stick a string through the hoop of the ornament and hang it on your tree. Another ornament idea is Salt Dough ornaments, you first start off with a big bowl and pour 1 cup of flour inside the bowl, ½ cup salt, ½ cup hot water, and mix it all together until you have dough and take the dough out of the bowl to knead it until it becomes soft or somewhat soft, You can use your hands or a rolling pin to flatten the dough and use cookie cutters to cut out the ornament; After you cut the shapes out you put a hole in the top of the ornament. After that you set the ornaments in a pan and bake them in the oven for 2-3 hours at 225° F. Once they get done baking the ingredients you need will be Mod Podge, Ribbon, Medium Paint Brush, Paint, and Glitter. You apply the paint on the Salt dough Ornaments, Once everything dries you are gonna apply Mod Podge to hold the glitter onto the ornament and to prevent paint cracking. After everything dries you apply another layer of Mod Podge and let it dry again before adding the ribbon and you’re done.
The last Christmas activity is to make a DIY Christmas advent calendar using Dollar store supplies. At the dollar store you can buy a ‘Advent Calendar Box’, wrapping paper, sticker numbers, and parchment paper. Now that you have the supplies you can take the little boxes out of the Advent box and wrap the little presents in wrapping paper or parchment paper and set them inside the boxes and put the little boxes inside the box container.. After you get done filling all the boxes you can wrap wrapping paper around the edges of the box to make it look Christmas themed instead of the brown box. Lastly you can decorate the Advent box by sticking the numbers on the little boxes and setting cute festive stickers around the box. And you are done with this Christmas Activity.
