With Christmas right around the corner people start getting ready to make their New Year’s resolutions and plan what they are doing on New Years Eve. This time of the year is very exciting, some people might stick to their same traditions every year and some might try and make new traditions. Every family has a different way of celebrating New Year’s Eve. Whether it’s banging pots and pans, eating grapes, or having their own tradition that they have.
Emma Holly is a Junior who is involved with CSF, NAMI, and the tennis team. Emma Holly is very excited for Christmas and the New Year coming. Holly has said, “Every year on New Year’s Eve my family and I go to my aunt’s to have a big party. At the end of the night we get our pots and pans and go outside and bang them very loudly. It’s a tradition that we never skip out on. But while we wait for the night to end we watch the New Year’s performances that are on tv. We will end up skipping through channels to watch multiple ones. I love the traditions that my family does and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Amaris Noyce is a Senior who is also on the tennis team. One of Noyce’s favorite time of the year is definitely winter and getting ready for Christmas. Amaris has said, “ On New Year’s Eve all of my family comes over to my house and we have a big party. We watch as many of the New Year’s performances as we can. We it hits midnight my family and I eat twelve grapes before eating each grape we wish on something to come to us during the New Year. Many people think that doing this is weird and doesn’t work but my family and I have done it for a long time and it is one of our favorite traditions during this time of the year.”
Jaedynn Dow is a Senior who is involved with Band Leadership. Everyone knows that Dow is a big fan of Christmas time and getting ready for the New Year. Jaedynn said, “Every year my family comes to my house and my mom covers the kitchen counter with many different foods. My family takes holidays very seriously and we go all out. At the end of the night we always go out and bang pots and pans and scream out our resolutions. Then after that we stay outside and watch the fireworks that people set off. By then we are all exhausted and we end the night.”
While many people might have the same traditions for New Year’s Eve, people will have their one thing that they do and they will have different reasons for doing them.
