With finals week just around the corner, many students may feel unprepared and uneasy about the end of the semester. Cramming to study before your finals, while also trying to pull your grades up usually isn’t the best for your mental health. Instead, take a step back, work on one assignment at a time, and be efficient and effective. There are many different ways to study for a test, but they are not one size fits all.
One effective way to study is to take Cornell notes in class and revise them at a later time. Another way is to try to use active recall or spaced repetition, which can allow students to do more than just read, but really understand and analyze what they are trying to absorb. These methods can prove to be time and energy efficient for the working student, while others may appreciate a more dedicated time. In this case, other students enjoy creating and studying flashcards or settling down for a couple of hours to study, taking a break, and then studying for a couple more hours to really absorb the information they need. Happy Holidays!
