On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Hughson High’s varsity girls basketball team hosted a home game vs Hilmar High School. One of Hughson’s varsity players, Payton Avila wanted to share her perspective of how the game went and she stated “I think I did a good job with my passing game but the team can definitely do better on our communication skills. Overall I think that everybody did a great job and in the end we came out on top.” Another of our varsity girls, Savannah Fuller said she would definitely agree with Payton that the team needs to work on their communication skills while in game “but coming towards the end of the game we pulled through and came out on top with a score of 50 to 34 after being tied through second and some of third quarter”. Reagan Barstow said “before the game we all have fun goofing off but then we all get into our serious mode and really focus into the game.” Last but not least Jasmine Richardson, also states that “it definitely wasn’t our best game but i’m glad we played a little bit sloppy. I’m still happy we stuck out with the win, we had to really pull through in the fourth quarter but we all came together and found the energy and passion.” Overall, every one of these girls and the rest of the team did an amazing job playing and winning.
