Hoopcoming is another version of homecoming but for basketball. Girls and boys get nominated by their graduating class. The winners are announced during halftime at the basketball game. Freshman and sophomore boys and girls run against each other, and junior and seniors do the same. Even though it might not get as much attention as Homecoming, it’s just as exciting for the nominees!
Elise Faith,a senior hoopscoming nominee, said, “I’m really excited. I got to be nominated with my boyfriend. I’m super excited to be nominated for queen my last year.”
Another nominee is Cienna Guillette. Cienna is a freshman and she said, “ I feel excited and honored that my freshman class nominated me for hoopscoming princess”
Bailey Peters is a sophomore nominated for princess. Peters said, “I was very surprised but really grateful”
Hoopcoming is being held on Friday the 26th and will be announced during varsity half time. We encourage you to bring friends and family to come join everyone on this special night. This is one of the big events held here at Hughson High School, and definitely will be a night to remember for all the nominees and eventually prince, princess, king, and queen winners.
