Today on the Weekly Outlook, we have got two students’ opinions on the experience of losing a loved one. Loss of family and friends is hard for a lot of people to take in. Losing someone you love or someone who is important to you can cause emptiness. It can be difficult to cope with the absence of someone that you care about. It is a natural part of life but that does not mean it is an easy part of life.
I have gone through loss as well. This month is my cousin’s birthday which is February 15 he passed away at the age 7. It has been 8 years without him. Losing my cousin was very hard for me and my family. It was hard losing someone I was with every single day. I would always hang out with him when my grandma baby sat with us. After he passed I feel like it left a piece of emptiness in our whole family. Having a child pass away so young was hard for us to cope with. Thinking about him being a freshman and how he would be 16 this year is crazy. It makes you think about what they would look like and how they would talk.
I interviewed Olivia Boggan and asked her if she had lost a loved one and if so how did it affect her. She had to say “ I lost my vava(grandma). It was a hard time to overcome, it had a toll on family and even myself. She was a role model for myself and I looked up to her.”
I interviewed Landon Peterson and asked him if he has lost a loved one and how it affected him he said “i lost my grandma and it affected me in a sad way.”
