The Advanced Placement Tests are coming up! These tests, also known as the AP tests, are created to assess the knowledge a student has learned over the course of the year. More importantly however, is the fact that these tests can count as a college credit if passed; this saves thousands of dollars for students looking for a college education. For the 2024 school year, these tests are scheduled to take place May 6-10 and May 13-17.
With the test coming up in just a few months the pressure to study and learn is at its highest. To prepare students for these exams teachers play a major role. AP U.S History teacher Mr. Kroll is continuously preparing students for the multiple choice and free response questions on the test by implementing them in his curriculum. After finishing a unit students take multiple choice tests and complete essay prompts. Students in his class have expressed that taking them has prepared them significantly and allowed them to continue to improve before the day of the final test arrives. On top of this, a practice test booklet can be checked out via the library to complete multiple writing assignments and questions on their own.
Similarly, Mrs. Giesbrecht’s AP Language and Composition class receives weekly grammar and spelling packets to prepare students for the language they will encounter during the test. Along with these, in class essays, and a breakdown of what to expect, are given to help students improve their writing skills.
Yet even with this much preparation, studying for the AP test rests majorly on students themselves to study and make time to do so. Prep Scholar explains that to get the best score, a five, on the test a student is expected to achieve a 70% or higher. Therefore, students should be thoroughly prepared for the questions they will be expected to answer.
Remember! For students who paid in installments, the final payment for the fifty-eight dollars is due on March 1st. Any fees paid after March 15th will result in a late fee of forty dollars.
