With the end of the 2023-2024 school year nearing, our seniors here at Hughson High are beginning to prepare for a new chapter in their lives! Graduating High School is the start of a huge new journey but our seniors aren’t the only ones getting ready for something new. Pretty soon, the 8th graders at Ross Middle School will be graduating middle school and promoted to high school! This is a HUGE change going from middle school to high school so Hughson High puts on a special program called Welcome to the Pack.
Welcome to the Pack is a program for all of the feeder schools in our district to come to our campus and get a taste of what life is like here at Hughson High. Each club and sport offered here has a booth to show what they have to offer and encourage you to try new things and do as much as you can in high school!
We all know that going from middle school to high school is a big change. Not only going from a smaller campus to a bigger campus, but also changing to a whole different environment. Welcome to the Pack is meant to make incoming high schoolers feel more at ease with the change and be more excited! This program shows everything offered and all the fun activities that take place at our campus.
Mrs. Brazil is a teacher here at Hughson High who is in charge of the Life of a Husky club. Life of a Husky is a group of kids that put on the Welcome to the Pack program. Brazil said, “The purpose is to teach incoming freshmen what it’s like to be a husky. We teach them about the classes they should take and if you want to have a good experience, help them choose what to be involved in.”
Being involved is a big part of getting used to high school. The main purpose of Welcome to the Pack is to get the incoming freshmen involved and well educated so they can be prepared when they get here.
Welcome to the Pack is an all day experience where the 8th graders can be a high schooler for a day. They walk around all day completing fun activities and visiting all the fun clubs and sports booths.
Although being a high schooler for the first time can be stressful for many, Life of a Husky does an amazing job to make them feel reassured and prepared! It’s also a good experience to find something new that you might be interested in!
