High school can be both the best and worst years of your life. There are so many changes that occur over the 4 years that we spend here, whether it be environmental, physical, or mental. All of these changes are necessary to grow up, even though they push many people out of their comfort zone. They also allow us to form new relationships and introduce us to the real world before we step into it on our own.
Over the course of high school, students will typically experience loss, grief, love, happiness, and acceptance (the acceptance part usually doesn’t happen for a while). It will challenge people and push us to form connections with our peers. Whether you like it or not, you are stuck with these people for 4 years. The best way to go about peer interactions is to be civil, even if somebody else isn’t. It is important to maintain a semi-professional relationship with your teachers and peers to prevent animosity and create an environment that is overall pleasant. Don’t worry about drama, it won’t last forever and it’s never worth the trouble.
Remember the times when you’re hanging out with your friends and having fun. It can be hard to focus on the good, but life is much more enjoyable when you do. Remember that education is the main point of high school and that you won’t know most of these people for the rest of your life. Focus on bettering yourself and creating an environment that you and others can enjoy, because everyone else is having just as difficult a time as you are.
