The spring semester is exciting as it allows for a new start for students in many ways; a refresh on grades, new sports coming into rotation, or picking a schedule for the coming school year. While all of these things are exciting, picking a new schedule can be incredibly challenging. You have to take into consideration your extracurricular activities, work schedule, and your social life. All of these things should correlate with your after school schedule in order to provide you with an efficient schedule.
Many students want to take classes with their friends, however, you need to consider the complexity of the course and how it will benefit you and your goals for graduation. If you take too many advanced courses, you can fall behind and put yourself in a pit. Think about how you handle the workload of school. Are you an overachiever? Take an AP class or two to challenge yourself! Do you struggle with your homework due to its difficulty? Maybe consider taking easier classes that set you up for academic success.
A fear of commitment creates a lot of pressure for students choosing a new schedule. While you should do your best to create a schedule that works well for you, it is okay to make mistakes and have to change a class. You can make these decisions and create a plan that suits your academic needs!
