Coming in as a new freshman, there’s a lot of things that seem intimidating and scary. There’s a lot of new things and many new people along with many other things that would intimidating any new high schooler. However, many of these things aren’t as scary as you think, and this is why.
For many the new campus is nerve wracking. Not knowing where all of your classes are is a worry for many freshmen coming onto campus for the first time. Although the campus seems big at first, in no time you’ll know it like the back of your hand. It might take a little to figure it out but once you do, getting to all your classes will be a breeze.
Another thing that is a worry for freshmen is school work. In middle school, you were always told by your teachers that high school was a whole different environment and the workload is way heavier. Being completely honest, the work isn’t much different from middle school, you just have to take it more seriously. In high school you actually have to be dedicated to your work and make sure you’re doing your best to get a good grade. One of the biggest ways to make sure that your year is easy work wise would be to get your work done as soon as possible and don’t put it off.
Being at a school with all the upperclassmen is another scary part of being in high school for the first time. Coming from middle school where you were the top dog at school then going into high school and being back at the bottom can be scary. It’s not scary though because many of the upperclassmen are super chill and are more friendly than you think. While being in sports you will more than likely make bonds with these upperclassmen too.
Freshman year isn’t as scary as you think because it’s a time of new beginnings, making new friends, being able to bond with new people in sports, and discovering what you’re passionate about. High school is all about starting fresh and preparing yourself for the years to come.
