The end of the year can be very exciting, but with excitement comes stress. Progress reports start going out, eligibility matters, and most importantly for AP students, the stress of AP exams comes. Along with all the other schoolwork AP students have, they have to study and prepare for AP exams. Taking all of this responsibility and weight can really affect a student.
There are multiple AP classes at Hughson High School. Many students have agreed that the hardest AP class is APUSH, or AP US History. Abbe Stoneham is currently a junior at HHS who is taking APUSH. Stoneham said, “ APUSH, given the advancement of that class, isn’t all that hard. It’s a lot of time because there is a lot of work; notes each week plus cards followed by either an essay question on Thursday and multiple choice on Friday or just a quiz on Friday. It can get very draining as you add all the other classes, but it’s not har, just tiring.”
Emma Holly is also a junior at HHS and she said, “I have two AP exams that I’m taking this year and they’re both on the more difficult side. For APUSH the amount of work and studying that I have to do is stressful, especially because of the amount of work I still have to do in class. I’m having to learn how to pace myself with every aspect of the test and learn how to write multiple essays both in a span of forty-five ish minutes. For AP language I’m having to learn around the same things but also how to write synthesis essays and argumentative essays. Trying to balance my studying for these tests while also trying to keep up good grades in school is becoming pretty difficult, especially during this second semester.”
Hearing from these two students, you can now get an idea of how during this time it can be very stressful for AP students that are getting prepared for their exams. Despite all of this stress being put on them, they are still persevering and doing their best.
