Pretty recently, track and field has been a pretty popular sport. Students here at Hughson have been participating for many reasons such as getting faster and stronger for football, gaining stamina and speed for cross country or to just have fun and fill their schedule. One person in particular, Sophomore Sarah Forshey who had just this year decided she wanted to participate. Sarah’s events that she has participated in recently are 800 meters and 4 x 800 relay, she has a 12:14.19 on the 4 x 800 relay and her best time in 800 meters is 2:55.96 which she got on March 16th against Calaveras. One of Hughson high’s main track coaches, Joel Bernard (Mr. Bernard), had actually stated, ¨for it being Sarah’s first year participating in track she has made quite a bit of progress.¨ he also stated that ¨Sarah just pretty recently overcame an injury as well so she is doing great if not better than what I expected from her.¨ To conclude, track and field is becoming a pretty popular sport here at Hughson and there are a lot of benefits to joining; it’s even better when you have an amazing team.
