The track and field season always seems to go by fairly quickly because it’s at the end of the year. So far we have had many PRs from new and old athletes in multiple different events. With all of the new athletes that have come and joined track there has been a major contribution to the Hughson High School Track team moving up and staying strong.
To start off the season right there was the distance wars. The HHS track team has an extremely strong distance crew. There are many freshmen that are doing amazing and have quickly moved up with the upperclassmen. Then we hosted the Frosh Soph Showcase which got the underclassmen to get a chance to experience how a track meet goes. The TVL relay was a chance for upperclassmen and underclassmen to compete with each other and get comfortable with competing. The Calaveras meet was an amazing meet for the HHS track and field team with several PRs from multiple different events.
Skipping ahead a few weeks there was the dual meet against Ripon. For track and field Ripon are our rivals; they have many great athletes and it is always an important time to compete. It was raining about the whole track meet and was not easy for athletes competing. While we gave it all we did lose that dual meet. And the most previous meet that we had was the dual meet against Riverbank. It was such a great day for HHS competitors. There were multiple PRs that we made and tons of athletes that really made a contribution to the team.
Overall I would personally say that so far the HHS Track and Field season has gone well so far. I truly believe that this team is going to make it far this year with all of the great talent that we have on the team.
