Today on the weekly outlook: We got student’s opinions on finals passes. A Finals pass is a pass earned by students when completing a certain grade average by the halfway point within the school semester. At Hughson High School the staff decided to take away Finals Passes because too many students were not coming to school. So they thought taking it away would solve that. Here is what the students had to respond with;

Noe Pacheco, a student at HHS expressed, ¨I think we should have Finals Passes because it is not fair for the people that come to school to get punished in a way but also the kids that try to keep their grade up and pass their classes and not be able to get a final pass because of the students who are running it for the kids. Having this incentive encourages students to maintain good grades.¨

Victoria Violette said  “I think we should have finals passes because students deserve to have them because even if you have an A and you have to take the final I think you should not because you worked hard all school year and did all your work and tried your hardest to pass this year. If we do badly on the final it is only gonna hurt if grades do not help. So if we were an A student and do bad on it and our grade goes down I don’t think that it is fair.¨

Paige Watson stated ¨ I think we should get Finals passes because it gets kids to work harder to be able to get final passes. And get better grades to not have to take their Finals.¨
