Every year Hughson High Schools performing arts and art department put on a Night of the Arts. This night consists of performances from both the Hughson High Band, Sound Investment and Choir, food trucks, face painting and photo booth. The performances are put on by Hughson High Students who work very hard to be able to perform and bring happiness to those who hear.
Kayte Maki, Jack Bland, Nick Brown and Brad Thompson all work together collectively to help put this event together. Mrs. Maki and Mr.Thompson both teach their students songs that are performed for you live. Mr.Brown and Mr.Bland both show art and photographs drawn and taken by Hughson High Students. The skill that is shown at the Night of The Arts by not only Hughson High Students but their teachers is what makes this night exceptional. I asked Mrs.Maki what she likes about Night of The Arts and she said, “Night of The Arts is a tradition that brings so many people together. My students and Mr.Thompson’s students work tirelessly to be able to put on a show and that brings me so much happiness. Being able to see the smile on peoples faces when they hear a song they recognize or a song they like, fills me with so much joy and happiness.”
I asked Mr.Thompson what he was looking forward to seeing at Night of The Arts and he said, “I look forward to seeing all the cheerful faces and as well as the hard work the students put into this performance.” This is my 4th and last Night of The Arts and it has been a wonderful experience to be able to play with the Hughson High School Band as well as be able to experience 2 years in the Hughson High School Choir. I look forward to coming to other performances by the HHS Band and Choir once I have graduated.
