This week on the Sports Inside we are looking into the mindset of Hughson Husky varsity coaches and volleyball players. The Huskies will be facing the Argonaut Mustangs, in a home game at Hughson High. The Varsity Volleyball team will be entering into their season, hoping to make the playoffs and go far this year.

Here are the inside thoughts of some of the coaches and varsity players. 

Varsity coach, Kaci Brazil said, “We have played Argonaut in the past and they are always a tough squad, so I’m sure it will be a good game. I am looking forward to the challenge. The TVL has changed a lot. So every match will be like a playoff game so I think that would be pretty fun. Their team is so far so good they are working hard, making improvements and that’s what we want to see. Yes I see teams making the playoffs this year.”

Sophomore, Number 3, defensive specialist Grace Brazil said, “I’m excited for the game, I’m also excited for this season, we have a strong team and a strong bond so I think that us being able to get along all together makes a good team chemistry already. And I’m confident that we will be able to go to the playoffs this year and my goals for this year are just to improve on my back row skills and get better as a defensive specialist.”

Sophomore, Number 12, Outside hitter Olivia Piazza said, “I’m looking forward to Thursday’s game, I think we have a good chance of winning. I’m excited for this season and I think this team will go far. I think our team is doing well, especially for it being so early in our season. Even though we have a very tough league this year, I see us making it to the playoffs. My goal for this season is to improve every game. I’m going to work on being a good leader as a captain. A positive mindset is very important, so I try to have one going into every practice, workout, and game.”

Junior, number 2, Setter Julia Daniels said “ My thoughts going into the game is that I hope to win. I’m super excited for this season. Our team is very close and we all play really well together. I think we are going to do really well. I think our team is doing great and I think we will get really far this season. I do think we will make the playoffs we have been doing really good and I believe we can. My mindset this season is to work really hard and not give up even if we are losing or doing bad.”

Senior, outside hitter Emily Yarbrough said, “I’m excited and ready to play.  I think this season is going to be a good season. I think we are doing good and coming together as a team and we should be good. I do see teams making the playoffs. I just hope we do.”
