As the beginning of the school year starts, Hughson Huskies volleyball team started off another thrilling season with freshmen, JV and varsity going against Bret Harte, Livingston, and Argonaut in the first week. The student section was filled with excitement to see returning players show off their hard work and the skills they have developed before the season.

According to coach Brazil, she is feeling great about her athletic crew and is ready for the season.

Brazil stated “TVL is a pretty tough league so we just want to stay tough through the season and make it as far as possible into the playoffs.”

While JV and varsity were getting ready to face Bret Harte, freshmen were working hard to set up plays for their outside hitters scoring points after points with Natalia Ramos and Ivory Moffet, getting ready to hit line and angle each time, ending with a victory. 

The JV team were hyped up and determined to win their game against Bret Harte with great serve receive setting up the setter to give beautiful sets each time to there Outside hitters, Vannesa Rodriguez the starting libero gives a beautiful pass to Emery Visaraga who then sets up Stella brown who gives a fast hard hit against the other team giving JV another win. The first game ended in a victory. Harley Wells stated “It was a very fast and easy game.”

While varsity was ready to see how they do against Bret Harte they start off the game with a great serve received by Izzy Piazza and Grace Brazil. Julia Daniels sets Emily Yarbrough up for multiple kills, While Paisley Peterson ends the set with an unbelievable kill getting the student section hyped up. Ending the first game with a victory. Paisley Peterson states, “It was a fun game, especially because it was the first home game so we were super hyped throughout the whole game.” 

Our second home game of the week against Livingston was an exciting game giving all three teams another win. 

The last volleyball game of the week against Argonaut was a tough game for JV leaving them to lose for the first time this season. Although JV had lost their game Freshman and Varsity took another win leaving them undefeated. The first week of volleyball was a thrilling week for the Hughson Huskies Volleyball team.
