Back at it for week 3. Statement game. Lots of distraction this week due to it being Homecoming. No school gave me a lot of time to relax and make sure I was mentally ready for the game. We had a parade through the town at 2. After the parade I got all my stuff ready to go to the school; I got to the school feeling confident and ready to go. A lot of stuff going on all week just to lead up to Friday so I was ready. After I got all my usual stuff done with stretching and getting a good sweat I was ready to throw during halftime of the JV game. I had a great session with my guys; headed back to the locker room with a great mindset.
Game Time! We deferred to the second half giving the ball to Pitman and on the first play we got the ball right back with Lawson Aviles forcing a fumble and recovering it himself. We started out really strong with a broken coverage. I hit my brother Bryce McDaniel wide open for the touchdown. Here’s what he had to say about the early score: “It felt great to get on the board fast and give our team a good cushion heading into our next defensive drive.” Our team was very confident going into the next drive with our defense making another great stop. We quickly scored again, getting the ball to Malakai. Some things that Malakai had to add after the game were, “It was fun and scary. I did not want to drop it in front of everyone and miss a good play but glad I caught it and used my speed to get the touchdown.” After we scored that time we knew we had the game and we scored three more times before the half hit putting us up by five touchdowns. Halftime hit and some of the other guys went for it and got solid reps with us scoring one more time to cap the big victory of Pitman.
