Welcome to week three of the Pre-Game, this week there will be three more games to talk about across Hughson High. With football on a bye, there is room to cover other sports that may interest you. Here we will give you the best look for a great prediction during the upcoming couple days in Huskies sports.
Varsity Girls Volleyball September 17th 6:00pm v.s Escalon @ Hughson
After an underwhelming league opener, the Volleyball team will look to bounce back against Escalon this week. Both teams’ records appear similar, so the game should be highly competitive. The Huskies have not been the most consistent so far but hopefully the leaders can step up and get some momentum. Julia Daniels exclaims, “Practices have consisted of getting better at serve receive and improving defense.” Escalon is definitely a must win for this team, so we are hoping for the best.
SCORE PREDICTION: 25-23 Hughson W
Varsity Flag Football September 19th 4:30pm v.s Riverbank @ Hughson
The Flag Football team has been working hard as the days pass to prove they are the best in the TVL. Senior Sofia Sanchez says, “I’ve prepared for league through preseason by pushing myself harder in practice than I usually do, run hard, throw far and catch the ball I get thrown to me, as well as pull more flags in practice.” Riverbank might not be the hardest challenge they will face this season, but they aren’t a team to sleep on. The Huskies are coming off of a slightly disappointing tournament themselves and have a lot to show as league starts.
SCORE PREDICTION: 26-6 Hughson W
Varsity XC September 20th @ Woodbridge Invitational Great Park Irvine, CA
The Hughson Cross country squad placed second in their most recent match with runner Ty Swain showing a bright future, placing 3rd place out of 150 athletes. They continue to condition as the days pass and look to impress the fans at the Woodbridge invitation this week. Richard Stites, who is another strong runner in the program, added that, “We are preparing for the tournament by doing hard workouts. But another thing that is just as important is to take the easy days easy too.” Recovery is big in sports right now, especially with the scorching heat.
As another week in Husky sports arrives, our athletes feel like they’re going to dominate in every aspect of their respective sports with intense practices and talent. Here’s to hoping our teams bring their best and make us all proud as the days pass.
