The Tri-Valley League had a switch this year, bringing in teams that had left throughout the years. The Orestimba Warriors, Ripon Christian Knights, and Sonora Wildcats are the teams joining this year. They are going to bring competition into football this year. Riverbank and Livingston are making their way out of the Tri-Valley League this year which is bringing the other teams in. Both Riverbank and Livingston didn’t bring much competition in general. Maybe the new teams will bring some fire into the season games.
Hearing Tri-Valley League, many come to the conclusion that the teams are Hughson, Hilamr, Escalon, Ripon, Riverbank, Modesto Christian, and Livingston. The new colors joining, Orestimba, Ripon Christian, and Sonora, were added for multiple reasons but the main reason was to move up as they were doing well in their respective leagues. Here are some of the players and coaches thoughts on this.
Carlos Guizar, a senior varsity football player for Hughson High said, “The teams leaving the TVL didn’t bring much competition so the new teams coming will help with that.”
The Tri-Valley League has been around for close to fifty years and there have been lots of changes. The League first started off with Escalon, Ripon, Modesto Christian, Hughson, Riverbank, and Ripon Chirstian. Around 2010, Ripon Christian left the league and Orestimba joined it. Then in 2014 Orestimba left the league. While both teams are deciding to make a comeback into this Tri-Valley League.
Eli Wilbanks, A junior varsity football player for Hughson High said “Adding these new teams to the league is going to make everyone better, there’s going to be a lot more competition every friday night now.”
Justice Futch, running back coach for Hughson High said, “Ripon Christian has been a highly competitive program in the Southern League for the past 6 years. Orestimba has either been a good team or a bad team. Every couple of years they put together a 8-10 win season and I think that is starting to shift into a competitive program.”
