This is a novela after the first book Powerless, but you can do a tandem read, and read them together alongside each other. If you Google it you can find what pages to switch back and forth with.
This book follows the female main character from Powerless, her best friend Adena. She is now left in the Slums having to take care of herself for the first time ever, since Payden did everything for her for so long. She tries to make money for food, tries to steal food and fails miserably. So it follows her as she meets a guy named Makoto, and how he slowly falls in love with her and helps her learn how to function in daily life.
I really loved this book; the way it shows Adeans loving and caring side and it shows more of her character a lot more. It also made me kinda hate Paedyn a little bit because she rarely thinks about Adena as much as Adena thinks about her! But it did make the ending of Powerless a lot more heartfelt and sad. I couldn’t have handled reading them together because the ending already made me cry and being more connected to her. I wouldn’t be able to mentally do it! I really loved it though and I think it was a really nice edition to the story before the official second book.
