Welcome to week Four of the Pre-Game, this week there will be three big games to talk about across Hughson High. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Varsity Football September 27th @ Ripon Christian High 7:00pm
Ripon Christian is well known to be the stronger of the two Ripon schools when it comes to football. They have been starting their season relatively well heading into the game this Friday. Hughson on the other hand has stayed red hot since the season opener. The game should be interesting nonetheless. This is what Max Mankins has to say on the game this Friday, “Ripon Christian is a good team, we have to work hard in practice to prepare for the game. They have won quite a few section titles when we played them a couple years ago and it was a tough comeback win.” Clearly they won’t be a team to underestimate, especially with the playoff history.
SCORE PREDICTION: Hughson W 35-14
Varsity Flag Football September 25th @ Ripon High 5:30pm
These teams have met already this year in a recent tournament where the Huskies fell just short 12-19. A few key players were out of Hughson’s lineup though due to injuries so maybe this is the game they get the best of Ripon while at full strength. Ripon has been struggling so far this season after losing their league opener to Riverbank there is lots of optimism on the Huskies squad for this game. When asked about predictions on the game, starting quarterback Leah Hobby stated, “I think that we have been working hard and if we keep making improvements on both offense and defense we will be a strong team, I also think that if I improve making good reads it will allow us to score more points.” Consistency will be the key for this team as the season heads into league play. Limiting big plays and offensive turnovers should be the final touch for the Huskies to have a great season.
SCORE PREDICTION: Hughson W 20-14
Varsity Cross Country September 25th @ Stouffer Park Ripon 4:00pm
This will be the Cross Country teams second time running on this course already so maybe a little bit of experience can lead the Huskies to a W this time around. These are Adrian Andrades thoughts on how the course conditions might affect the running times. “I believe that we can get at least 5 varsity boys under 18 minutes for the 5k because the conditions are going to be less difficult. We know how the course looks now and we won’t have to run in 100 degree weather this time. And for the JV boys I think that we have a chance at beating Ripon if we run smart and out-kick them in the end.” The squad looks to pace themselves well and with the amount of hot conditions they have endured this race shouldn’t be a problem.
SCORE PREDICTION: Hughson 1st Place
