Kourtney Christianson, also known as Mrs. C or Mrs. Christianson, has been teaching for 6 years. Christianson was inspired by her love for science to become a teacher. Her favorite part about teaching is how she gets to interact with her students everyday. Christianson’s favorite lessons have been teaching leadership in the field of Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation. She loves being a biology teacher because it is a super fun subject to teach. If Christianson was not a teacher, she would work at a zoo and be an animal trainer. Christianson’s goals for her students by the end of the school year is that she wants her students to feel like they gained new knowledge in biology and HTR, and they feel supported in their learning as well as their emotional and social well being.
Christianson’s way to help kids with special needs is doing one on one time with them and trying to understand what needs they have. From day 1, her way to deal with classroom discipline is to establish respect in her class towards her and others. Christianson’s idea of dealing with conflicts between students is to remind her students that they deserve respect, as well as she deserves it. Her idea to engage students who are struggling is to do group projects to get the student engaged in something else. Chritianson’s way to deal with stress between work and her personal life is not to work all the time after school hours unless necessary. Her advice for someone who wants to become a teacher is that they should use their resources and take help from others. Mrs. Christianson’s favorite memory at this school is when the football boys won state.
