Welcome to week Five of the Pre-Game, this week there will be three big games to talk about across Hughson High including big rivalries. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Varsity Football October 4th 7:00 PM v.s Escalon @ Hughson High
One of the biggest rivalries in the TVL will be hosted this Friday with a sold out crowd. A short handed Escalon team will be facing the Hughson Huskies, who are stronger than ever. These teams have been back and forth the past few years, but with some major Escalon injuries the Huskies could be on their way to a TVL title in no time. Team Captain Carlos Guizar speaks about how the odds might be a little better this season to take down the powerhouse, stating, “They lost two important pieces in their offense and I feel like our team is finally meshing together right, and after a couple of games our chemistry is strong.”
Varsity Flag Football September 30th 6:00 PM v.s Sonora @ Sonora High
The Flag Football team has started off league, playing red hot after humbling Hilmar High on Monday 26-0. The stakes are high on this game, especially with the small amount of games played by the Wildcats. Nobody really knows what to expect until they are off the bus. The Huskies are noticeably improving as the season continues, and hopefully they can carry this into their next big game. Starting running back Morgan Bleakley spoke about the upcoming game, stating, “I think our team is really strong and we have good chemistry with each other allowing us to compete with any team in the league and come up on top. Sonora is just another roadblock we have to get over but ultimately I believe we will be successful.”
Varsity XC October 5th 9:00 AM Artichoke Invitational @ Half Moon Bay
As another big race approaches, the Huskies are just getting faster and faster. They are committed to leaving their mark at Artichoke, and with the race taking place at 9:00 AM all of the racers should be locked in with the great conditions. The course might not be easy, but one of the fastest of Hughson’s runners, Ty Swain, spoke about his goals for the race by stating, “My goal for the race is to run smart and fast, I’m going for a 16:30 5k. I want to stay hydrated so the early start time and the possible rough terrain.”
