The transition from eighth grade to high school is different for everyone. As a middle schooler you can’t wait to go to high school, but once you’re in high school sometimes you wish to be in middle school again. High school rules, events, and the learning techniques are a lot different than how they are in middle school.
In high school you have a less strict dress code and everyone is less afraid to dress in their own style and be themselves. You also have a lot more freedom, such as phones, where you sit in class, and electives. Teachers are hard on you but most are cool and a little lenient. Not to mention middle school dances are a lot more different than high school dances. In middle school, teachers tend to make sure the DJ plays only clean versions of songs, and not as many people attend the middle school dances. However, in high school a lot more people go and there is way better music, almost everyone sings along and dances with all of their friends. High school dances are a blast.
Not to mention almost everyone in high school is mature and it is honestly so relieving. The drama in high school dials down a bit compared to middle school. Everyone is too busy and doesn’t really care as much for there to be drama. The only thing is that since Hughson High School is small, usually everyone hears about what other people are doing or everything going on.
In high school there are many different groups and clubs you can be a part of. HHS offers a number of clubs with a wide variety of different things. Joining clubs can help you make more friends and get to know people better! Also, Hughson has amazing sports teams for baseball, softball, football, soccer, volleyball, tennis, track, cross country, and basketball. Joining clubs and sports helps people to make friends and they can get scholarships. All clubs and sports teams are so welcoming and make sure everyone feels included. In middle school there’s sports but the games aren’t the same. The feeling of being out on the field or in the high school student section is way better and different than middle school. In middle school there aren’t as many clubs or benefits from being in clubs.
In High school you make so many memories that will last a lifetime like going to In-n-Out, being in the student section, attending dances, playing in school sports, and making friends.
