Ripon Christian! Right across the street from last week! We came into the game with confidence and a determined mindset after a big league win last week. The pregame was just about the same as last week, but the locker room was a little bigger. The time to get warmed up was a little shorter due to some unexpected traffic. We had just enough time to get out there and get warmed up. We got onto the field which was a little different because they had no track, so the fans were right on top of us. The on field warm ups went great, with getting a good sweat in and ready to roll.
Game time! We definitely did not start how we wanted. We had a three and out and their offense capitalized on it and scored. We came back and drove down the field with me connecting with my brother for a nice grab, tying the game up. They had a good game plan and they scored again, making it 14-7. We didn’t get in the endzone to finish the first half. We were not happy going into the half and I knew that I needed to step up and produce some offense. We started out on defense getting a much needed stop. Our offense came firing out as we scored in two plays to tie the game up. They scored right after, making the score 14-21. We got the ball back and made it past mid field and we got into a bad situation with some penalties. We were at sudden death of 4th and 18 and Malakai made an amazing grab in the endzone to keep our comeback hopes alive. 21 all here we go, defense makes a great stop giving the ball to us with 4 minutes remaining. We made it to a good field position, with Eli and Bryce making some great plays on the drive. We got to the 20 yard line and with 14 seconds left, I threw it to Bryce for a game winner. Bang! We came back, but we know that we need to produce more points early and flip the page for next week against Escalon.
