Starting high school is always difficult for the average freshman. From having to deal with the new environment to being given new loads of work, experiencing the transition from middle school to high school is notably hard. Here at Hughson High School, freshmen from different schools come to learn and experience high school with a large population of others. Two students were asked some questions about how their freshman year is going so far here at Hughson High School.
Esmeralda Gonzalez spoke about her first few months as a freshman. She enjoys the people at the school as well as the sports that are played. Continuing, Esmeralda has a great involvement in the sports at school. She is very happy about her current status, stating, “I made the volleyball team.” She feels truly involved in school and is proud of herself. She feels like she is truly a part of the school and the community as a whole.
Alessandra Lazaro, who is also a freshman, spoke about the experience she had with the start of her freshman year. Alessandra enjoys hanging out with her friends and the helpful teachers at school. She feels that the thing she enjoys the most so far is her social life, stating, “The best thing about the school year so far is the friends and meeting people I haven’t met and having a good time with them.” Alessandra feels like she is involved in the school community in many ways, being in many different clubs and being apart of a few of the HHS sports teams.
Freshman year is difficult for every new student at Hughson High School and hearing different perspectives helps the community understand the truth behind the freshman class.
