Sonora week! First time I’ve been able to play against them! 6-0 vs 6-0! Home game this week so the schedule was pre-set and I already knew what I was doing. The same schedule of me getting recovery while eating and then heading to my house to get a nap in before I head to the game. I made sure throughout the week I watched a lot of film knowing this is a really big game. Sonora is known for there strong offense and physical defense. I knew going into the game that we needed to score a lot of points to stay in the game with their high-powered offense. After I got up from my nap I went to the school and got all my gear on and ready to get a good stretch in. My guys and I got out there during halftime to get a good sweat and chemistry down.
Here goes game time. This game is for the TVL driving spot. My coach and I prior to the game knew we wanted the ball to start so when we won the toss we called for it. We got the ball and started out with a five yard gain and then a long completion of 60 yards to Max Mankins. We were on the 10 yard line and stalled the drive out holding to a field goal to go up 3-0. We kicked the ball out to them and they started out on the 40 yard line. They fumbled on the first play giving us the ball back on great field position. We scored on the first play and we got it and went up 10-0. After that they took a fumble from us tying the game up after scoring a touch down and a field goal. They scored again making it 17-10 and we fired right back and scored again. At this point we knew that this was gonna be a shoot out. We got to the half up 31-24 with us leading. The third quarter started and they scored making it 31 all. As we got down to the end we were up 52-45 and they had it with a minute and 30 seconds left and they drove down and scored and they ended up going for 2 and they didn’t get it! Bang, the sound of the fireworks after us winning a wild one at Hughson Field. Onto the next game here we go.
