I have only read one other book by Stephen King and that was Carrie and that one was pretty good and I enjoyed it. He has a really distinct writing style and he explains everything in such detail and in a way that you wouldn’t really think of it. He’ll take like two pages to explain how one person went to a cafe and started drinking black coffee, and he’ll go into such detail to explain the dark color and taste of the coffee. It is really cool and I do enjoy his writing but you have to be in the mood for it.
‘Salem’s Lot follows a series of charters but it mostly follows Ben Mares. Ben is an author who is working on a new book involving the town ‘Salem’s Lot. He wrote a few other books before this but they didn’t do that great and his last one got a lot of hate. So now he’s going back to where he grew up and he was drawn to a house at the top of the hill overlooking the whole town named the Marson House. It is a really creepy house where the owner of it hung himself in an upstairs room. Naturally Ben Mares is drawn to that house and he tries to even rent the house out just to find out that it was already bought and he was so confused on why anyone would want that house. As he is in the town, really weird things start to happen and kids keep going missing and then their family starts dying, suddenly.
I didn’t enjoy this book but I also didn’t hate it, the book was just really weird. I personally just don’t think his writing is for me. I think it is really cool how he explains everything because you would never think of it in that way and how detailed it is. For me though I get kinda bored and it loses my interest taking two pages explaining the taste of black coffee. The story itself was really interesting. It was just that I would occasionally get bored by the explaining and I would get pulled out of the book. But overall it was really interesting and I think the story was really fun.
