Back on Saturday, November 9th, the Huskies went to the notorious Frogtown Cross Country Course in Angels Camp to run in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Sub-Sections meet. The team went there with confidence to make it to sections, and performed as expected .

Fortunately, all teams qualified to go to the section meet in Folsom. This was the first time that all of the Huskies teams sent to Sub-Sections qualified for Sections.
This was also the first time this year that the team has run the Frogtown course. Unfortunately, they were unable to come out to the annual Frogtown Invitational because of a busy schedule. With this course, some people had a few words to say on their performance.
Freshmen Juan Palos said, “My performance, I think, was okay. You know, not used to the hills or those types of courses. Hopefully I do better at Folsom.” With it being his first year in Cross Country, he had a tough time with this course.
More on the teams overall performance, Diego Salinas, a sophomore, stated, “Team performance wise, I believe we did really good, I think most of the boys pr’d. All of the JV boys were fighting for a varsity spot. I strongly believe that we are gonna do really good in sections.” With the JV boys team being competitive, they’re definitely going to go all out on their last race at sections.
Sophomore Carlos Nava added, “On the boys side we were really close to each other, it was very competitive because of how much depth we had and I didn’t like the amount of pressure that was put on me or on others.” The teams results show that, with the amount of depth that the team has, they’re close to making it to the State Championship and place high in the JV race at sections.
Right now, both varsity teams have the chance to qualify, but their competition varies. On the boys side, schools like West Campus, Union Mine, Christian Brothers, and Casa Roble are competing with the Huskies for 1 of 3 spots to State. For the girls, their competition includes Hilmar, Placer, Christian Brothers, and El Dorado. It will still be tough to obtain one of the three spots to State with the Varsity Girls, since they are still struggling with injury. But don’t get me wrong, at this point of the season, all competition would be resilient.
The Sections meet is happening on Saturday, November 16th, on the Willow Hills Reservoir Cross Country course. Good luck Huskies!
