Madison Flake, also known as Ms. Flake, is a new teacher at this school. Flake started teaching this school year. She was inspired to become a teacher by her teachers from younger years. Her favorite part about teaching AG related subjects is the hands-on work they all do. With that said, her favorite lessons to teach are any hands-on activities. Flake loves anything to do with hands-on working because it’s her passion.
If she was not a teacher, she would do anything related to agriculture. She’s always loved the AG related field. Flake’s goals for her students by the end of the year is to gain a deeper appreciation of the agriculture industry, take away important life skills that will prepare them for college or trade school after they graduate, and to always strive to be the best versions of themselves. Her way to adapt and help kids who have special needs is to work with them and figure out what they like and don’t like.
Given this is Flake’s first year of teaching, she still is learning what rules to set. Flake tries to talk to the students and see what the issue is before blaming people. When students in her class have problems with each other, she immediately separates them. Her idea for helping kids who are struggling is to get them in an activity.
A piece of advice Flake would give someone is to understand that you never stop growing and learning. She states that you shouldn’t have to change who you are to “impress” the kids so they like you better. Flake doesn’t have a favorite memory here yet, but she loves getting to know all her students and their personalities.
