I carried my brother away from the cops and everything else. I didn’t want Jordan to know what happened to Dad. I carried him and ran far. I started to get tired because I was exhausted from carrying him for three miles. We rest under a bridge and I’m haunted by nightmares of Dad dying in my arms. I know the time will come that I will have to tell Jordan the truth. The next day, Jordan asked me, “What’s going on. Where’s dad?” I said, “I’ll tell you later.” I searched my wallet and realized I had 40 bucks from what Dad gave me.
Jordan and I go into a restaurant. We ordered a burger and a milkshake. I couldn’t order much because I had to save the money for anything we needed down the road. We had to find somewhere better to stay and rest. After walking at least 20 miles of road, we found a park with a river and a cave. It’s perfect. My brother thinks this is some sort of adventure and I told him that. Sooner or later, I will have to tell him the truth about dad. Jordan and I try to find the wood to make a fire and I try to take his mind off dad by playing a game of tag.
He had such a happy look on his face while playing tag with me and it’s gonna be hard for me to tell him the truth. I have to take care of my brother and I will protect him with my life. The next day, Jordan and I stumbled upon a gas station and I got some snacks and stuff. We met a traveling journalist there and his name was Kai. He would travel all around the United States and give ratings on historical landmarks, or at least that’s what he said. Jordan wanted me to get him some candy because he missed Halloween and I agreed.
We pay for our snacks and sit outside on the bench, planning our next move and where to go. While we were distracted, this old man attacked me. I told Jordan to run and the old man knocked me out. I woke up hours later tied up in a room. He knew who I was, and apparently I was wanted for questioning about the incident a few days ago when my dad died.
