As the holiday season approaches, the atmosphere is filled with joyful sounds of Christmas carols. This year, we decided to find out which Christmas songs are the favorites among our students. We took to the classrooms to gather opinions and discovered a wide variety of beloved tunes.
First we started with a staff member, Mrs. Maciel, one of the Agricultural teachers, and she shared that ‘Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays’ by NSYNC was her favorite “it’s very joyful, it makes me really happy, it’s just a very jumpy song!” Maciel also gave us a bonus one, ‘Carol of The Bells’, “the instruments are very cool and I really like the beat to it, those definitely are my two favorite Christmas songs.” Next, Madi Collins, a junior, told us ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey “you can’t go wrong with this song, it’s a loved song by everyone” Collins explained.
Senior, Malakai Sumter, mentioned ‘Tis The Season’ by Carley Nunn was his favorite. While Josie Trumble, a sophomore, said ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ by Bobby Helms was her favorite song “it’s just a classic and everyone loves it, also because there is a funny video relating to the song” Trumble explained. Jacob Wetenkamp added that ‘White Christmas’ by Michael Buble was his number one. “I like Michael Buble’s cover of this song, it’s very nice and a classic of course.”
As we gathered these responses, it became clear that Christmas carols play a significant role in creating the festive atmosphere we all cherish during this time of year. Whether it’s modern pop or a traditional carol, each song brings its own unique joy and memories.
So, as we deck the halls and trim the trees, let’s not forget to turn up the volume on our favorite Christmas carols. After all, ‘tis the season to be jolly, and what better way to spread the cheer than through the shared love of music.
