Welcome to the week thirteen of The Pre-Game. This week there will be three huge games to talk about across Hughson High including the Norcal game for the Varsity football team. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Varsity Football 7:30 PM @ Hughson High V.S St. Vincent De Paul
As the season continues the Heart Attack Huskies remain in the playoffs after a late comeback victory to eliminate Sutter for the second year in a row by just a one point affair. This win means more than any other as Hughson has now achieved a 3-peat on section titles for the first time ever. This team is special and could now take over the best record in school history with just two more wins but St. Vincent could be a tough team to beat. The Huskies have earned home field advantage for this game which could play a key role in Friday’s matchup. The Mustangs currently sit at 12-1 while the Huskies 13-0. Hopefully the long bus ride plays its part in the game with St. Vincent scored 50 plus points in all three of their latest games. Star wideout, Jameson Davis, who is coming off his biggest game of the season had a lot to say about how the Huskies can get back to another state game and hopefully win more than just a banner “It will take a lot of effort this week to move on, but we are going to focus on their corners and honing in on our footwork as wide receivers, and then work on our run defense up front with the D-Line.
Varsity Soccer V.S Tokay 9:20 AM Home 12/7/24
With the high amount of freshman talent and new coaching this game could be a great time to gain experience and develop. The main issue right now for the soccer team is the lack of starters with football still in playoffs, holes must be filled with less experienced players until the returners come back and with a decent history, Hughson can’t be a team to disappoint especially hosting the game. Hopefully the squad can gain chemistry with the practices before the big day. Sophomore Ty Swain who just got the call to varsity will be making an appearance on the soccer field coming out of cross country. When asked about his thoughts on the upcoming games these were his thoughts “ I think we will be fine this game and games to come but we could do a lot better with the football players. Our team is pretty good so we will have good results“. Last season came to a heartbreaking end to the TVL race and playoffs as well, the boys look to avoid making the same mistakes and winning just the second league title in the schools history.
Varsity Girls Soccer V.S Pacheco 2:30pm 12/6/24
There has been a lot of talk about how the boys season is going but what about the varsity girls? As of right now not good, starting the season off 0-3 is never a great sign but there is still plenty of time to turn things around. A little bit more team chemistry is clearly needed and with the amount of time before league play, anything can happen with Riverbank and Livingston out of the TVL. The girls have only scored 3 goals while surrendering 15 which is a key piece to the losing streak. Better defense is clearly needed along with better strategies to put the ball in the net. Presley Wells has this to say about the last 3 games. “We clearly haven’t been doing the best so far but we are putting in the work in practice to try and change and get some wins under our belt” best of luck to the girls trying to change their season for the better.
As another week in Husky sports is here our athletes feel like they’re going to achieve big goals and dominate in their respective sports with intense practices and dedication. Through the wins and losses we will always show support. Here’s to hoping our teams bring their best and make us all proud as the days continue to pass.
