Hughson High school holds about 850 kids. With a recently done study of the amount of kids who play sports comes out to be around 65%. This means about ⅔ of our whole school plays sports. With this amount you would surely think we have a lot of kids being offered to play at the next level. Currently in our senior class we have two big offers to D1 schools to go and play on Saturdays.
Justice Futch, Athletic Director at Hughson High said, “Some schools have trouble finding players for sports, we always have lots of people come out for the sport teams. We have lots of athletes at our school and some are just sparking the interest of the next level while we have some that have offers to continue the sports at the college level.”
One of those seniors is Max Mankins. Max plays Tight End and Defensive End for the Hughson Huskies. Max currently has offers by three D1 schools. He is currently committed to the Air Force academy. Max has been playing football since he was a little kid. He has also been playing for the Huskies for all 4 years.
Max Mankins, a senior at Hughson High said, “I am very thankful to have gotten the opportunity to play at the next level. I think it will definitely be tough and high level guys but I think no matter what I will be able to work my way up. I have been given a great opportunity to go play football and serve my country as an officer.”
The other senior is Robert Mcdaniel. Robert plays quarterback for the huskies. Robert is currently offered by twenty D1 schools. Robert is currently committed and signed to UCLA. Robert started playing football in sixth grade. He has been playing for the Huskies for the past four years, and has been on varsity for all four of those years.
Robert McDaniel, a senior at Hughson High said, “I feel really appreciative that a lot of schools showed interest in me. It is very hard to predict the future of college sports so I think that I can just make sure I keep working and get better each day.”
