In addition to the students on campus, teachers from Hughson High are up to fun and exciting things during break. Some are staying in the area, and some are traveling to different places. Winter break is a great opportunity to be with family or friends, and teachers get to unwind from the long semester. Four teachers were interviewed about what they will be doing on break, and they are all doing different activities.
Amy McAndrews, a history, government, and economics teacher, has some fun plans for break. She said, “As a member of the Fresno State Marching Band, our daughter has been invited to play in the Rose Bowl parade.” McAndrew’s family will be traveling to Pasadena to watch the parade. She also mentioned that she will be spending the rest of the time on break visiting with family.
Jillian Jimenez, an English teacher, said she plans on spending time with family and friends during winter break. She said, “I love to bake and so at the beginning of break I plan to do that before the holiday.” Jimenez said she plans on trying to bake apple pie, sugar cookies, and gingerbread cheesecake. She added, “We are going to take a trip to the snow which I am looking forward to.” Jimenez said she hopes that there will be snow to sled and snowboard.
Brad Thompson, a performing arts teacher, is planning on doing some things to help the upcoming production. He mentioned that he will be building the set and scenery for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He also is going to be spending time with family even though the drama department is keeping him busy. Thompson also is looking forward to eating Christmas cookies during the holiday.
Madison Flake, an agriculture teacher, is planning on spending time with family. Flake said that she will be taking a trip to Nashville, Tennessee with her close family. She said, “My grandpa has always wanted to go, especially to see the Grand Ole Opry, so that is a big reason why we planned to go this year!”
