Tiktok was the most downloaded app globally in the past years but what if that changed? Throughout the years there have been many rumors about tiktok getting banned causing many users and influencers to worry. Not only does Tiktok give the opportunity to small businesses but supports the income of many influences worldwide. January 19th was the reported date tiktok is to be taken off the app store. With many users and influences curious about the tiktok ban, what do you think will happen?
Mariah Ruiz said, “With tiktok getting banned I think many people are going to be boring since most people get their humor or jokes from tiktok videos, I also have doubts that tiktok will be banned since they have said it so many times and it never actually happened and if it does happen I hope somebody from the U.S buys it.”
With rumors about Tiktok getting banned it comes with many theories that people either made up or read it online. One of the theories is that Mr. Beast is going to buy Tiktok or that Elon Musk is going to buy it. Another theory is that there are chinese spies stealing data from anyone who downloads the app. Many have also heard that they are going to postpone the Tiktok ban for 270 days. With Tiktok coming to an end, it will affect many people’s day to day life either in a good or bad way.
Carter Clawson said, “I think Tiktok is going to get banned eventually since currently they are adding a additional 270 days to the Tiktok ban, I also think that Mr. Beast will buy it since he said that he would; But there also is a theory that Elon Musk will buy it since the Chinese government offered it to him.”
If Tiktok gets banned it will affect many people in a positive or negative way. If Tiktok gets banned it would help with less screen time since the average person spends around 1-3 hours a day on Tiktok. Tiktok getting banned can be an opportunity for people to devote more time to healthier activities instead of bed rotting everyday.
Hannah Bray said, “I hope that Tiktok doesn’t get banned since I have made so many memories and videos there and i’m going to miss scrolling on my phone on Tiktok or making Tiktok dances with my friends.”
Although Tiktok can have positive effects it can also also have a huge negative effect on many influencers or families since Tiktok can take away the only job people had and can ruin all the hard work people did to get to where they were at.
Joss Antis said, “I think somebody should buy Tiktok since it is already a popular app and they would make more money from it then the amount they bought it for, Tiktok also shouldn’t be banned since it is many people’s favorite app and can ruin many people’s lives causing them to start fresh on a new social media platform like instagram or youtube.”
In the end, only time will tell if Tiktok will face a permanent ban or find a way to navigate the regulatory challenges it faces.
