This book is referred to as a 0.5 start to a series called Throne of Glass and it is a collection of five short stories with the main character Celaena and a lot of the things that she had to go through before the start of the series. You can read this book first then the rest of the series or you can read it third and be perfectly fine. Personally I read this third and I LOVED IT! I can’t say how it would’ve been if I read it first since that’s not how it is. 

I loved how in the series she mentioned how she stole a fancy horse at one point and never spoke on it after that, but in assassins blade you learn the story with the horse and how all of that came about and it was really cool to make the connections to it after the fact. She also mentioned how she knew how to kill witches and she never says how she knew but in assassin’s blade she shows how she found out that information the hard way, and there is a charter in the other books that looked up to Celaena and they were friends at one point and were separated and in the 7th book in the series she shows up!

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read anything fantasy it’s just a long series.
