Welcome to week four of The Pre-Game, this week there will be three huge games to talk about across Hughson High. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Boys Varsity Basketball February 4th 7:00pm V.S Escalon @ Escalon High School
The Varsity basketball boys have been competing against an extremely talented TVL filled with harsh competition. Even with the growing losses, the Huskies are proving that they have a bright future ahead with new players proving themselves every game. Though playoffs are pretty much out of reach every game is still getting played hard and with full dedication. An away game against the Cougars could prove that Hughson still has some fight left. After only scoring 39 points against Escalon in the last matchup there is lots of room for improvement. Junior Elion Quinteros stated, “I think the season has gone worse than expected because we have only won 1 game in the league out of 5. I think the game against Escalon will go well if we can stay on our game and play great defense and offense.”
Score Prediction Huskies L 57-49
Girls Varsity Soccer February 7th 3:30pm V.S Hilmar @ Hilmar High School
The girls season continues to spiral down after suffering their ninth straight loss with only one goal in that span and allowing forty one total to opposing teams. Knowing that Hilmar’s girls won sections last season for soccer and they have already beaten the Huskies by seven this year, this could be a rough one. The girls are looking to keep it close and prove that even though this season hasn’t gone well that they can still put up a fight against a playoff team. Player Sophia Sanchez says “Overall I think skill wise our team has gotten better throughout the year and we just aren’t getting the winning side to show it. I think that this game coming up is going to be tough knowing we have already lost but despite that we will try our best and put up a fight.”
Score Prediction Huskies L 5-0
Boys Varsity Soccer February 5th 3:30pm V.S Orestimba @ Orestimba High School
The Varsity soccer team has tied in back to back games but look to get back on track against the Orestimba Warriors who are currently first place for the league title. Even with TVL and playoff title hopes fading away, nothing would make the Huskies more happy than to knock Orestimba out of first place. Last time the boys suffered a 5-3 loss but after proving that they can stick with teams in the last couple matches this could be an upset for Hughson. Ty Swain had this to say about the big upcoming game, “I think the game against Orestimba will be a tough game. We will have to give it our all and pass really well to get around their team. I think the season has been a little worse than expected because we have tied in 3 games we should’ve won.”
Score Prediction Huskies W 2-1
As another week in Husky sports arrives our athletes believe they’re going to achieve big goals and dominate in their respective sports with intense practices and dedication. Through the wins and losses we will always show support. Here’s to hoping our teams bring their best and make us all proud.
