In the Heart of Hughson, California, the legacy of heroes has a big effect on the small community leaving grief and sorrow but also remembrance of the effect they left. One such hero is Deputy Sheriff Dennis Wallace.
Mariah Ruiz stated, “I believe Dennis Wallace was a hero since not only did he sacrifice his life he also protected Hughson for twenty years.”
Dennis Wallace was a beloved cop,friend and family member. Dennis Wallace served at the county’s sheriff department for two decades before his passing on November,13th,2016 from a rapid gun fire at Fox Grove park in Hughson while investigating a suspicious vehicle, Dennis Called for backup but when he was found he had two gunshot wounds in the back of his head ending the officers life.
Jaeden Navarro stated “ I think Dennis Wallace is a hero because he died for this town and is a big role model for me.”
Deputy Dennis Wallace was a good person, who saw the best in kids and was a role model for others. Although Dennis’ life ended at the age of fifty three, he was still able to make a difference in the community. Deputy Wallace was a hero in different ways.While he was on duty he saw a sick student waiting for a ride home, Wallace realized the kid was more than sick and called the ambulance who made it clear that he was having a heart attack potentially saving the little boy’s life. Dennis was also a hero by being a longtime DARE officer steering kids away from drugs. Dennis Wallace was compassionate in his service and dedicated to his profession.
In loving memory of Deputy sheriff Dennis Wallace, Hughson dedicated the soccer complex to him and also had a parade for him to honor everything he did for his town,family and friends.
Hannah Bray said, “Dennis Wallace had a main effect on the community of Hughson since he sacrificed his life serving the community of Hughson.”
Since Dennis is gone it’s safe to say that In the town of Hughson California lies a hero.

Dennis worked with the youth sports programs by being a game official for many years. He also coached football for the youth of the valley.
His life was taken by a individual who was sick and shortened Dennis life.
